A major search is to be carried out at the former home of teenager Kenneth Jones, who disappeared from Glenrothes in 1998.
Specialist officers will be carrying out searches in the garden of a property in the Ancrum Court area, where the 18-year-old was last seen.
Kenneth was reported missing by his family on November 4, 1998, and has not been heard from since. He would now be 46-years-old.
Police Scotland’s major investigation team officers, assisted by local officers and experts, will return to the address following investigations carried out in February this year.
Detective chief inspector Jonathan Pleasance said: “We are returning to Ancrum Court to carry out specific searches in the garden following our enquiries in February.
“We remain committed to establishing the full circumstances of what happened to Kenneth and will explore all possible opportunities, including modern technology, which could assist.
“The investigation continues to review all available evidence, and we are keeping an open mind.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have any information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward.
“It’s essential we find out what happened to Kenneth to bring his family some much needed closure.”
When reported missing in 1998, Kenneth was described as white, 6ft 2in tall, with short, dark-brown hair.
When last seen, he was wearing a black leather zip-up jacket, black jeans, and yellow and green trainers.
Anyone with information that could help our enquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
