Police searching for driver of Mercedes that failed to stop after crash

Police are searching for the driver of a Mercedes that failed to stop following a crash on the Edinburgh city bypass.

Emergency services were called to the Sheriffhall roundabout on the A720, in Dalkeith, at around 7pm on Monday after a white Volkswagen Polo was involved in a crash with a red Mercedes.

The driver of the Polo did not require medical treatment.

The Mercedes failed to stop and the scene and would have sustained damaged to its front passenger side.

Constable John Money said: “Our enquiries are continuing to trace the Mercedes car and its driver. If you were in the area at the time and witnessed the crash or have any dash-cam footage please contact us.

“If you have any information regarding the car we wish to trace, please contact Police Scotland through 101 quoting incident number 3002 of 22 June, 2026.”
