© Google Maps 2024Police have launched an investigation after hay bales were set on fire in a field in the Scottish Borders.
Emergency services were called to a field by the A698 near Heiton at around 11.55am on Sunday.
The fire, which is being treated as deliberate, was successfully extinguished and no injuries were reported.
Officers have launched an appeal for any witnesses into the blaze to come forward.
Sergeant Stephen Granger said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything to contact us.
“We also ask any motorists in the area at the time who may have dashcam footage to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 1737 of September 1, 2024.”
