Police are hunting a driver after a man was struck by a flatbed truck in Midlothian.

The 51-year-old was hit by the large vehicle at The Wisp between Millerhill Road and Edmonstone Road, Danderhall, at 9.55am on Monday.

The pedestrian was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but the truck, which was carrying a set of ladders, left the scene.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses in a bid to trace those involved.

Police sergeant Paul Ewing of the Road Policing Unit said: “I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage to contact us as soon as possible.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1337 of February 7, 2022.”
