Police have cordoned off a city street and evacuated a building following a “malicious call”.

It’s been confirmed that officers responded to a call received at a business premises on Dundee Street in Edinburgh.

Police confirmed that the premises that received the call was evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Officers were called to the scene around 5pm on Saturday evening, and police have warned the public to “avoid the area” until further notice.

Dundee Street is closed from Viewforth to Yeoman place.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We are responding to a malicious call received at a business premises in Dundee Street, Edinburgh.

“The premises has been evacuated as a precaution, and a cordon has been put in place.

“Dundee Street is closed from Viewforth to Yeoman Place. Please avoid the area.”
