Police are appealing for information after a pensioner was attacked in Edinburgh.

A pensioner has been left with a serious head injury following an assault in Edinburgh.

The victim was seriously assaulted on Forrest Road in the city’s Old Town at around 2.30pm on Friday, May 13 by another man in his late 20s.

The 73-year-old man sustained the serious injury and was taken to the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh for treatment. 

Police are now appealing for any information or dash cam footage of the incident on the attacker and another man who was with him.

The suspect is described as being in his late 20s, between 5ft 10in in height and 6ft, of muscular build, with facial hair.

He was wearing a dark hooded jacket and spoke with a local accent and was in the company of a second male in his late 20s.

The second man was described to be of a similar height, with black hair, facial hair and was wearing an orange jacket.

Detective Constable Kieran Keddie said: “This incident saw a man sustain a serious head injury and it is vital we trace those involved.

“I am appealing for anyone with any information which may assist us to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have dash cam footage to contact us.”
