Police are looking to trace two men following a 'terrifying' robbery.

Two men have been assaulted and robbed at knife-point on a footpath outside a library in West Lothian.

The 31-year-olds were in the Craigshill area of Almondvale, Livingston, when they were approached by another two men at around 10.15pm on Friday.

One of the assailants produced a knife and demanded they empty their pockets before making off in the direction of Craigshill Shopping Mall with a stolen vape and a mobile phone.

One of the victims were also punched during in the incident but did not require hospital treatment.

Police are now investigating and have released descriptions of the men they are looking to trace.

The first suspect is described as being a bald white man with a black beard estimated to be in his mid 20s to early 30s and around 6ft tall with a large build.

He spoke with a local accent and at the time of the incident wore a dark blue hooded top, dark jeans and a dark jacket.

The second suspect is described as also being white and around 5ft 10ins tall with a skinny build.

He is also in his mid-20s to 30s and had a noticeable bump on his nose.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark rain jacket.

Detective Constable Lynn Myles of Livingston CID said: “This was a terrifying experience for the two men involved, who thankfully, were not injured.

“Enquires are ongoing to trace those responsible and I would urge anyone who may have seen anything or who have any information to contact police as soon as possible.

“We are also keen to talk to anyone who may have been driving in the area and recording via a dashcam device, please check your footage and contact police with anything relevant to our investigation.”
