A person has died after being struck by a train in East Dunbartonshire.
The incident happened between Falkirk High and Glasgow Queen Street railway stations at around 12.19pm on Monday afternoon.
The British Transport Police were called but the person was pronounced dead at the scene next to Lenzie station.
A BTP spokesperson said: “We were called at 12.19pm on Monday to an area of railway near Lenzie station following a report of a casualty.
“Officers are currently in attendance. Sadly, a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.”
ScotRail confirmed it was working closely with emergency services.
The rail company advised passengers that services between Queen Street and Aberdeen, Alloa, Dundee and Edinburgh were cancelled, delayed or revised.
Services between Glasgow and Edinburgh via Falkirk High were suspended but now returning to normal with delays still expected.
