A person has been found dead on a railway line after being hit by a train in Stirling.

Emergency services were called to the line near Bridge of Allan railway station at around 5am on Wednesday.

A person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Routes from Glasgow Queen Street to Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness were affected until 10am as emergency crews dealt with the incident.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just before 5am today near Bridge of Allan railway station.

“Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased.

“The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.”
