A pensioner has been rushed to hospital after being shot with an air rifle in East Lothian.
The 73-year-old woman was left “badly shaken” after receiving treatment at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh following the incident in the Beveridge Row area of Belhaven, Dunbar on Sunday afternoon.
Investigators say the victim was walking near Edinburgh Road when she was attacked with the firearm at around 2.20pm.
The woman has since been discharged, but an appeal for witnesses is under way.
Detective sergeant Marion Anderson said: “The woman involved was left badly shaken and shocked as a result of this incident and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“We would urge anyone who was in the area of Beveridge Row, Edinburgh Road or Belhaven Caravan Park around 2.20pm on Sunday afternoon to get in touch.
“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around that time.”
DS Anderson added: “Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1944 of February 12, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
