A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Kirkcaldy.

Emergency services were called to Nicol Street on Saturday around 7.20am after a 78-year-old woman was struck by a silver Kia Sportage.

The woman was rushed by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to serious injuries.

Police confirmed a 48-year-old driver of the car was uninjured in the incident.

A section of the road was closed to drivers for around five hours while crash scene investigators conducted enquiries.

Sergeant Stephen Quinn of Edinburgh Road Policing Unit said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have information about this crash.

“In particular, we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who may have dash-cam footage from the area to get in touch. Please check devices as any footage could hold images which could prove to be significant in our enquiries.

“Anyone with any information can call 101, quoting reference 0879 of Saturday, March 11, 2023, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
