Pedestrian fighting for life after being struck by car

A man is in a critical condition after being hit by a car on Thursday night.

A man has been left fighting for his life after being struck by a car in Fife.

The 27-year-old was crossing the road at Formonthills Road, Glenrothes, when he was hit by a silver Vauxhall Vectra at around 8.25pm on Thursday.

Emergency services attended and he was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where medical staff describe his condition as critical.

The 42-year-old male driver of the Vectra was not injured.

Police say enquiries in to the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing.

Sgt Ewan Pearce said: “Although we have already spoken to a number of people who were in the area and who assisted at the crash last night, we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage just before the crash happened.

“If you have any information that may assist officers with their enquiries, then please contact officers at the Road Policing Unit, Glenrothes, via 101.”
