Eleven men and three teens have been charged by police after disorder broke out following a match between Hibernian and Motherwell in Edinburgh.

Police were called to St Andrew’s Square in the city centre following the game at Easter Road on Saturday, October 5.

Officers said incidents of violence and disorder were directed towards them.

Seven men had previously been charged in connection with the disorder, aged 32, 22, 21, 20, 19 and two 18-year-olds. Male youths aged 17 and 16 were also charged at the time.

On Wednesday, police confirmed a further four men, two aged 19, one aged 18 and a 24-year-old have also been charged in connection. A 16-year-old youth has also now been charged.

They have been released on an undertaking to appear in court on a later date.

Officers said football banning orders are being sought.

Chief Inspector Craig Rogerson said: “Officers work hard to create a safe environment not just at football matches but also after the event.

“These arrests send a strong message that we will not tolerate football related disorder in any form.”
