Police ScotlandA police officer has been injured following an incident involving a man with a “bladed weapon” in Edinburgh.
The incident occurred on Niddrie House Avenue in the east of the city just before 9pm on Sunday.
Firearms officers were sent to the scene following reports of a man causing a disturbance while in possession of a bladed weapon.
The 34-year-old man was tracked down and taken to hospital.
He was subsequently arrested and charged and is due to appear in court this week.
Police also confirmed an officer had been injured during the incident and was taken to hospital.
A police spokesperson said: “Around 8.50pm on Sunday, September 13, we received a report of a man causing a disturbance in possession of a bladed weapon on Niddrie House Avenue, Edinburgh.
“Officers, including firearms officers, attended and the man, aged 34, was traced and arrested in connection and subsequently taken to hospital.
“One officer was injured during the incident and was taken to hospital for assessment. No other injuries were reported.
“The man has since been charged and will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, September 15.”
