A police officer has been arrested in connection over the alleged rape of another officer at a training college in Fife.
The force confirmed that an investigation led by a team of specialist officers was launched following the incident at the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan, in Kincardine, on Friday, October 14.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that a 35-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident on Friday, but has since been released.
An officer had previously been suspended following an investigation into the incident.
A statement said: “Officers investigating a report of a serious sexual assault which was received on Friday, October 14, 2022, have arrested a 35-year-old man.
“The man has been released pending further enquiries.”
The college, which opened in 1954, is used as a key training site with a variety of courses held there, including basic training.
It also acts as Police Scotland’s corporate headquarters.
It was shut down earlier this month amid an infestation of the bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease.
