No electricity as power cut hit parts of Edinburgh

A power cut has hit homes across parts of Edinburgh.

SP Energy confirmed there was a power cut in the EH1, EH8 and EH14 areas of the capital from 8.30pm.

Its engineers have been sent out to fix the issue the company said it expects electricity to be restored in the EH14 area by around 10.30pm, and the EH1 and EH8 by 9.48pm.

“There is a power cut in the EH1, EH8 and EH14 postcode areas of Edinburgh,” the company said.

“We will attempt to reset the network remotely to restore power in stages, and our emergency response team are on their way to the area to investigate the cause of the fault.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”
