A multi-agency search has been launched following an incident on a beach in Fife on Wednesday.

Emergency services attended Leven Beach at around 7am.

Coastguard teams from Leven, Kinghorn and St Andrews, a lifeboat from Kinghorn RNLI and a helicopter are all taking part in the large-scale operation.

Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service are also in attendance. The nature of the incident is not yet known.

A Coastguard spokesperson said: “HM Coastguard responded to an incident in the Leven Beach area on May 20.

“First informed at around 7am, Coastguard Rescue Teams from Leven, Kinghorn and St Andrews, a lifeboat from Kinghorn RNLI and a HM Coastguard helicopter have been sent to assist, alongside Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service.”
