Multi-agency response launched for missing woman in Firth of Forth

Emergency services were called to Wardie Bay in the Trinity area of Edinburgh shortly after 3pm on Tuesday.

A multi-agency operation has been launched in the search for a woman reported missing while swimming in the Firth of Forth.

Emergency services were called to Wardie Bay in the Trinity area of Edinburgh shortly after 3pm on Tuesday.

Kinghorn RNLI have been deployed to the scene, along with resources from Queensferry and Anstruther and the Coastguard.

A spokesperson for Kinghorn RNLI said: “We can confirm we are on the search for a missing swimmer in the Wardie Bay area.

“It’s currently ongoing and ourselves, Queensferry and Anstruther RNLI lifeboats are out along with the Coastguard.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of concern for a woman in the water near Wardie Bay, Lower Granton Road, Edinburgh around 3.05pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

“Emergency services are in attendance.”
