A motorcyclist has died after a one vehicle crash that closed a road for over five hours in the Scottish Borders.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash, involving a KTM motorbike, on the B6357 near Saughtree at around 3.25pm on Sunday.

The 58-year-old male rider of the motorbike was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed from the junction at Saughtree to Bonchester Bridge to allow for investigations to take place and re-opened around 20.45pm.

Police Scotland is urging anyone with information regarding the crash to come forward.

Sergeant Michael Shillington said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died. Our enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

“I am appealing for anyone who saw the crash who hasn’t already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 2040 of April 6, 2025.”
