Over 1,000 homes in Fife are currently without gas after the network suffered damage on Tuesday.

It is believed that around 1,290 properties in the Kincardine area have been impacted by the outage, which which was reported at around 10.45am on October 15.

The Scottish Gas Network (SGN) has dispatched engineers to the scene to investigate the cause. They are also attending the homes affected to switch off the supply at the metre.

Residents have been urged to not utilise the gas supply at this time. A customer centre at Kincardine Community Centre was opened at 1pm to support those who need it.

The most recent update from SGN read: “Gas supplies to approximately 1,290 properties in the Kincardine area of Fife have been affected due to damage on our gas network.

“Our specialist team of engineers are currently investigating the cause and  assessing the damage.

“We will now be visiting all affected properties to turn off their gas supplies at the meter – please wait for one of our engineers and do not try to do this yourself. 

“It is important that you do not try to use your gas supply at this time.

“We will shortly be opening a customer centre at Kincardine Community Centre, Anderson Lane. Our Customer Service Team will be there from 1pm to offer support and answer any questions you have.”

Another update is due to be issued at 5.30pm.
