Travel links to airport disrupted amid 'emergency' outside terminal

Trams, buses and coaches advised passengers of disruption following the 'medical emergency'.

A “medical emergency” outside Edinburgh Airport has closed roads and disrupted services on trams and buses.

Edinburgh Trams confirmed on social media that a “medical emergency” on the Airlink 100 bus that connects the city to the airport halted tram services.

Scottish Citylink said services in and out of the airport by coach were delayed due to a medical-related emergency outside the terminal.

Lothian Buses confirmed a diversion on the number 100, 200 and 400 services, terminating at Ingliston Park and Ride “until further notice”.

A statement said: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Edinburgh Airport and are instead terminating at Ingliston Park & Ride until further notice.”

Edinburgh Travel News, an X account run by the City of Edinburgh council, said: “Due to a medical incident at the airport, Lothian bus services are unable to serve the stances and are terminating / starting at Ingliston Park & Ride.

“Your bus ticket can be used on the tram between the airport and the Park & Ride.”

Scottish Citylink said on X: “Services in and out of Edinburgh Airport currently delayed due to a medical emergency on a Lothian coach outside the airport terminal.”

Edinburgh Trams posted: “Due to a medical emergency on the Airlink 100, we are accepting Lothian Bus tickets between Ingliston Park and Ride and the airport, to allow passengers to complete their journey.”

A spokesperson for Edinburgh airport said: “Our highly trained staff assisted with a medical incident as first responders before assisting the emergency services upon arrival.”

Lothian Buses, Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
