An appeal has been launched after a masked man robbed a shop in East Lothian.

The incident happened at around 4pm on July 22, at a store on High Street, Tranent.

A man entered the shop and smashed a display cabinet containing mobile phones.

Four phones were taken and the man made off in the general direction of Church Street initially, possibly using back alleys towards Foresters Park.

He is described as around 5ft 10in, of slim build, and was wearing a dark hoodie, a dark cap, and a mask. He was carrying a bright red rucksack.

Detective Constable Garry Mauran said: “Fortunately no one was injured and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“We are keen to trace the man involved and I am asking anyone who saw what happened or saw the man to get in touch.

“In addition, if you were driving in the area and have dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation then please make contact with us.”

Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 2293 of July 22, 2023.
