The former manager of a social care service has been banned from the profession after embezzling over £40,000 from service users.
Violet Connor stole £40,060 from her vulnerable victims’ personal bank accounts and falsified internal records whilst working for Sense Scotland Supported Living – which provides care for adults and children with communication support needs – in Kirkcaldy between April 10, 2019 and September 14, 2022.
Connor was convicted of embezzlement at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on June 4.
An investigation by the Scottish Social Services Council found that the former manager abused the trust given to her for financial gain and irreparably damaged her reputation.
Her actions were described as “extremely serious” due to the large sums of money involved.
Their report reads: “This behaviour falls at the more serious end of the scale of seriousness.
“If repeated, such behaviour could cause serious financial harm to service users and their families.
“It could also cause emotional harm to service users and their families, who would be upset to learn that someone they trusted to act in their interests has acted so dishonestly.
“The behaviour is fundamentally incompatible with registration.”
Connor was removed from the register on November 6.
