A man who sparked a police search after going missing for almost two weeks has been found “safe and well” in England.

Michael Fitzpatrick, 48, was last spotted in the Haugh Street area of Falkirk at around 12pm on Friday, April 17.

He was reported missing on Sunday having been out of contact with his family.

Enquiries tracked him to Edinburgh and then onto Berwick-Upon-Tweed by train.

Officers believed he could have been camping wild.

Following a public appeal for help on Monday, police confirmed Mr Fitzpatrick was found in Northumbria on Tuesday.

A force spokesperson said: “Police Scotland can confirm that Michael Fitzpatrick, 48, who had been missing from Falkirk since Friday, April 17, has now been traced safe and well in Northumbria.

“We would like to thank the public for their assistance.”
