Man who died in hit-and-run in West Lothian named as police continue to investigate collisionPolice Scotland

A man who died following a hit-and-run in West Lothian has been named.

Emergency services were called to Main Street in Linlithgow at around 12.20am on Sunday, August 30, after reports of a crash involving a grey Renault Clio and a pedestrian.

Raffaele Bramante, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are aware.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop following the incident. Officers arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the incident.

An investigation to establish the full circumstances remains ongoing.

Police Constable Threadgold extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, stating: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died.”

“Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing for anyone who saw what happened and is yet to contact police to get in touch.”

“If you were driving in the area around the time of the crash please check any dash-cam footage you have and make contact with us if something has been captured that could assist with our investigation.”

Anyone with relevant information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0078 of Sunday, August 30, 2026.
