A man who died after being struck by a car in Musselburgh has been named by police.

Officers were called to the fatal road crash that took place on Olive Bank Road on January 15 around 8.25pm.

The incident led to the death of Brian Forbes, a 70-year-old man from the Musselburgh area.

The crash involved a grey Renault Megane driven by a 42-year-old who police confirmed was uninjured in the incident.

Police confirmed that the Mr Forbes’ family have requested privacy at this time.

Sergeant Dominic Doyle said: “Our thoughts very much remain with Brian’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We are continuing to investigate the full circumstances of this incident and would urge anyone who may have information which has not yet been passed to police to please get in touch.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area.

“Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 3205 of January 15.”
