A man has been charged in connection with the death of a woman found dead in a home in the Borders.
Emergency services were called to the property on Windram Road in Chirnside, Duns, on Sunday following reports of a seriously injured woman at around 4.35am.
A 31-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and her next of kin have been made aware.
A 31-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, February 10.
Detective Inspector Laura White said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
“Specialist officers are providing support to her family as our investigation continues.”
Chief Inspector Stuart Fletcher said: “We understand this incident will cause concern within the local community and I want to reassure residents that there will be an ongoing police presence in the area.
“Additional patrols are being carried out and I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to officers.”
