A probe has been launched after a man was taken to hospital following an assault in Bathgate.
The 37-year-old suffered a serious facial injury after being attacked on Hopetoun Street, at around 12.30am on Saturday.
Emergency services attended and he was taken to St Johns Hospital for treatment.
His condition is currently unknown.
Police are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward in relation to the incident.
Detective sergeant Lisa Cairney said: “A man sustained a serious injury as a result of this incident.
“Our enquiries are ongoing and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information which may assist us to get in touch.
“I would also appeal to anyone who was driving in the area around the time to check dasham footage and contact us.”
