Man taken to hospital after vehicle crashes into telecommunications pole in Scottish Borders

A man has been taken to hospital after a vehicle crashed into a telecommunications pole in the Scottish Borders on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the A7 near Stow after a blue Toyota Rav4 came to a stop in a field just south of the junction for Fountainhill at around 10.35pm.

The 66-year-old male driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Sergeant Barry Sommerville said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the crash, or who saw the vehicle prior, to contact local officers.

“I’d also ask those with dash-cams to review the footage to see if it has captured anything of significance that could assist with our investigation.”
