A man was taken to hospital after a possible “hazardous material” was discovered at a property in Midlothian.

Emergency services were called to the property in Bonnyrigg at around 9.15pm on Saturday after reports of a man taking unwell.

He was taken to hospital.

Enquiries were carried out, and the material was found not to be hazardous.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.15pm on Saturday, 4 July, 2026, we were made aware of a man having taken unwell and later taken to hospital.

“Officers attended a property in Bonnyrigg in relation following a report of a possible hazardous material. Enquiries were carried out and it was confirmed not to be hazardous.

“There was no risk to the wider public.”
