Man taken to hospital after 'stabbing' as another charged

A man is in hospital and another has been charged after an alleged stabbing in Midlothian on Friday evening.

Police were called to High Street in Loanhead at around 5.30pm on July 10 to reports of a serious assault.

A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 33-year-old man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in connection with the incident on Monday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.30pm on Friday, 10 July, 2026, we were called to a serious assault in the High Street area of Loanhead. 

“Emergency services attended and a 21-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment. 

“A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, July 13.”
