A man was left with serious facial injuries after being attacked in the Borders.
The assault occurred on Saturday outside the Station Hotel on Market Square, Melrose between 9.30pm and 10pm.
The 38-year-old was taken to Borders General Hospital following the attack for treatment.
Police said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Officers have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to come forward, contacting Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 1998 of April 10.
