Man seriously injured as motorcycle hits pedestrian island

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcycle crash left a man seriously injured.

A man has been left seriously injured after a motorcycle crashed into a pedestrian island in Edinburgh.

The man was a passenger on the white and red scrambler-type motorcycle as it travelled through Colinton Mains Drive at around 10.40pm on Friday.

After it struck the island emergency services were called and the injured man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where medical staff describe his condition as serious.

The driver of the motorcycle left the scene heading westward and was last seen turning right at Tesco.

Police say enquiries in relation to the incident are on-going as they appeal for witnesses.

Sergeant Andrew Trotter of Edinburgh City Road Policing, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have information and who has not already come forward to do so.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash, anyone who may have dashcam footage or anyone who has seen the motorcycle around the time of the incident to get in touch.”
