A man has died following a flat fire in Fife during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident on Somerville Square in Burntisland at around 5.36am.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Services sent three engines to extinguish the flames.
A 59-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing, however, detectives do not believe the incident is suspicious.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.55am on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, we were called to a report of a fire at a property on Somerville Square, Burntisland.
“A 59-year-old man was removed from the property and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing, however, there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire.”
