Police are searching for three men following the assault in Eskbank Road, Dalkeith on Thursday.

An appeal has been launched after a driver was left in hospital after being followed by a car, and then assaulted by the occupants in Dalkieth.

Police were called to Eskbank Road, after receiving reports that a 39-year-old man in a Mercedes was followed by a Vauxhall or Ford before being involved in a crash.

He was then assaulted by three men from the car.

The man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. His current condition is unknown.

Police are carrying out enquiries in the area and gathering CCTV footage to identify those involved.

Detective sergeant Jordan Stevenson said: “We are carrying out enquiries in the area and checking CCTV footage to identify those involved.

“I would urge any witnesses to this incident, or anyone who saw the dark-coloured Vauxhall or Ford being driven erratically in the Dalkeith area to contact us. I am also keen to obtain any dashcam or personal CCTV footage that may assist our investigation.

“Anyone with information should contact police via 101, quoting incident 3505 of December 29. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
