Man 'left extremely shaken' after being robbed at knife point in Whitburn as police hunt for suspect

Police have launched a manhunt after a man was held at knifepoint during a robbery in West Lothian.

The incident occurred around 3.15am on Monday on a footpath between Bog Road and Dean Street in Whitburn.

A 50-year-old man was approached and threatened with a knife before being robbed of his wallet, which contained a three-figure sum of money. Personal items of value were also stolen by the thief.

Following the incident, the suspect took off in the direction of Bog Road.

The victim was left shaken but uninjured following the incident.

Detective Constable Graeme Rogers said: “This was a frightening incident for the victim, and it is vital we trace the man responsible.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a man acting suspiciously, or knows who it may be, to contact officers.

“I’d also appeal to those in the area who have dash-cam footage or private CCTV to review this to see if it has captured anything of significance.”
