Man in hospital after alleged serious assault as arrest made

A man is in hospital after suffering an alleged serious assault in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to Gorgie Road at around 4.25pm on Monday.

The 49-year-old victim was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Police said a 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault.

He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault which happened on Gorgie Road in Edinburgh around 4.25pm on Monday, April 15, 2024.

“Emergency services attended and a 49-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

“A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and the man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.”
