A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a woman in the Scottish Borders.
Emergency services were called to the property on Windram Road in Chirnside, Duns, on Sunday following reports of a seriously injured woman at around 4.35am.
Megan Hughes, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, Ms Hughes’ family, who have asked for privacy, said: “Megan was a much-loved mother and daughter.
“She was beautiful and caring.
“This has left a massive hole in the family who are all absolutely devastated.”
A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the death.
Corey Dryden made no plea during his appearance at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Dryden, from Berwickshire, was charged with murder.
He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
He is due to appear again within eight days.
