A man has appeared in court following an alleged fatal hit-and-run near Edinburgh Airport.
The four-vehicle crash, involving a grey Mercedes A250, a black Renault Captur, a grey Skoda Karoq and a grey Hyundai i30, occurred at around 9.20am on Glasgow Road near Newbridge on Monday.
Emergency services attended; however, the 58-year-old female driver of the Hyundai i30 was pronounced dead at the scene.
She has since been named as Linda Patterson, who has been described as a “beautiful soul” by her family.
Shola Richards, from Broxburn, has appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with causing death by dangerous driving, two other road traffic offences and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The 32-year-old made no plea.
He was remanded in custody and is due back in court within eight days.
