A man has been flown to hospital in a medical helicopter after an ambulance was involved in a crash with a car near a garden centre in Fife.

The incident took place at the Bridgend Garden Centre in Freuchie on Tuesday morning.

Both vehicles were driving on the A92 when they collided at around 10.30am.

Emergency services including three ambulances and a Scottish Air Ambulance helimed were in attendance at the scene.

The road was closed for around two and a half hours following the crash before reopening at around 1pm.

The condition of the injured man who was taken to hospital for treatment is not known at this time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.30am on Tuesday, we received a report of a two-vehicle crash on the A92 near Freuchie, involving a car and an ambulance.

“One man was taken to hospital for treatment and the road was reopened around 1pm.”
