A rape suspect may have fled Scotland for the Philippines after missing court date in Glasgow.
Connor Sliman, 21, was due to face the allegations at the High Court last week.
The accusations include claims the man raped two teenage girls in 2020 and 2021 in his hometown of Stenhousemuir, Stirlingshire.
However, Sliman did not appear for the hearing.
His lawyer Laura-Anne Radcliffe said Sliman’s legal team did not know exactly where he was.
Prosecutor Eric Robertson went on to state that the suspect had latterly been staying with a female relative.
“She has said that he is no longer there and had gone to the Philippines, where his father lives,” Mr Robertson said.
“I asked for inquiries to be made and there is police information that he did take a flight to the Philippines in February 2024.”
The prosecutor added: “He did have a return ticket, but did not use it.
“Checks have been made (earlier this month) and it appeared, as of that date, he was not in this country.
“There is very clear picture that he has failed to appear for this hearing.”
Mr Robertson moved for a warrant for Sliman’s arrest although asked for the indictment to be kept “live” given other information that Sliman may “stump up funds” to return to the UK.
Lord Fairley said: “I am satisfied a warrant should be granted.”
The case is scheduled to call for an update at another hearing in November.
Among the nine charges Sliman faces is that he raped a teenage girl at an outbuilding in Stenhousemuir.
This includes an allegation that he restrained her by holding her on the neck and body.
He is further accused of raping another teenager on Christmas Eve 2020 in woods in the town.
The claims in this charge include an allegation that he ripped and removed her lower clothing as well grabbed her by the arms.
Sliman faces a separate accusation of sexually assaulting the same girl on various occasions.
