A man has died after a suspected gas explosion at a building in Falkirk.

Police were called to Northfield Road, Denny, at around 4.10pm on Sunday after receiving reports of an explosion in an outbuilding.

Emergency services attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquires are ongoing into the incident to establish the circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 4.10pm on Sunday, October 16, to a report of a gas explosion in an outbuilding in the Northfield Road area of Denny.

“Emergency services attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There was no danger to the wider public.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 4.11pm on Sunday, October 16 to reports of an explosion at a property at Northfield Road, Dunipace, Denny.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and firefighters assisted emergency service partners. Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
