A man has died after being struck on a Edinburgh train line.
LNER announced “significant disruption” to services between Edinburgh and Newcastle after a person was struck by a train north of the English city, near Cramlington station at around 2am on Saturday.
The British Transport Police have now confirmed that a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation has been launched into the incident.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “British Transport Police were called to the railway tracks near Cramlington station around 2am on April 8 following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The man’s family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time.
“The incident is under investigation.”
