A man has died after being struck by a train near Stirling.

Emergency services attended the incident shortly after 9.30am on Sunday but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "Officers attended the line close to Stirling following a report that a person had been struck by a train."

The incident was reported to police at 9.31am and is currently being treated as "non-suspicious".

The spokesman added: "Paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A report will be sent to the local Procurator Fiscal."

The line between Stirling and Croy closed temporarily but ScotRail has confirmed it has since reopened.
