Man dead after falling onto Edinburgh city centre street

Emergency services were called to the scene on Dublin Street on Tuesday afternoon.

A man has died after he fell onto a street in Edinburgh city centre on Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Dublin Street at around 3pm after reports of a man falling.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.

A cordon was put in place, and a blue tent was erected under nearby scaffolding.

The health and safety watchdog has been notified, police said.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3pm on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, we received a report that a man had fallen on Dublin Street, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There are no suspicious circumstances.

“The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The Health and Safety Executive has been contacted for comment.
