A man has been left in a critical condition after he was knocked down by a car during the early hours of Saturday morning in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were alerted to a pedestrian being struck by a blue MG HS on Chesser Avenue at around 11.21am.

The 49-year-old man was taken to hospital having sustained life-threatening injuries.

The 35-year-old female driver was not injured. An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Sergeant Fraser Mitchell said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision to contact us, especially those who may have dash cam footage that could assist with our enquiries.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 0074 of April 11, 2026.”
