A man has been convicted of raping three children in West Lothian over a seven-year period.
On Monday, David Smith was found guilty of serious child sexual offences at the High Court in Livingston.
The 41-year-old’s crimes included the rape of three boys, who were aged seven, ten and 11, between 2013 and 2020.
Detective Inspector Jennifer Priestley said: “Smith showed a complete disregard for his victims, exploiting them for his own sexual gratification.
“I want to acknowledge the strength of the victims who provided information to police in this case. Smith’s conviction is down to them. I hope this sentence brings them and their families some comfort.
“We take all reports of sexual abuse seriously, regardless of the passage of time.
“We remain committed to supporting victims of sexual crime and protecting children from harm and abuse.
“I would urge anyone who is a victim of abuse to speak to police in the knowledge you will be listened to, taken seriously and fully supported.”
