A man has appeared in court charged with murder following the death of a woman in Edinburgh.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance at a property on Restalrig Avenue at around 1am on August 28.

A woman, named as 43-year-old Ndata Bobb, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment, where she died a short time later.

Momodou Bobb appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday in connection with the incident where he faced a single charge of murder.

The 55-year-old from Edinburgh made no plea and was remanded in custody.

He will appear before the court again within the next eight days.

Detective Inspector Kevin Tait said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Ndata at this extremely difficult time.

“Our investigation remains ongoing, however we are not looking for anyone else in connection with Ndata’s death.

“This is a shocking incident and I would urge anyone with any concerns, or information, to contact police.”
