A man has appeared in court over the alleged murder of a dad near a primary school in West Lothian.
Gary Nicol was found with serious injuries on Bankton Lane in Livingston around 2am on September, 26, with a post-mortem examination finding the death to be “unexplained”.
However, following enquiries, officers said the 50-year-old was “clearly the victim of a violent assault”, and his death was treated as murder by police.
On Friday, police confirmed a 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
Connor Manners appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court on Monday charged with Mr Nicol’s murder.
The 25-year-old made no plea during his appearance and was remanded in custody.
Manners is expected to make another appearance within eight days.
