A man has been charged after a pensioner was left with a serious head injury in Edinburgh during a “broad daylight attack” earlier this year.
The 73-year-old received treatment at hospital following the incident on Forrest Road shortly after 2.30pm on May 13.
A probe into the attack was launched, with officers appealing for those with dashcams fitted on their vehicles to come forward.
However police have now confirmed a 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident.
He is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh sheriff court at a later date.
“A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault in Forrest Road,” a statement by the force said.
“The assault happened around 2.30pm on Friday, May 13 after officers were called to a report of a 73-year-old man having sustained serious head injuries.
“The man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.”
